ABOUT - Eduardo Bortolotti

Life & Education

Eduardo Bortolotti Lopez, born in 1990 is a violinist, composer and educator from Puebla, Mexico. He began his professional education at the Benemerita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla on classical violin. In 2012, he moved to Poland, where he currently lives.

In 2018, he completed a master’s degree in music education and popular music at the Faculty of Music of the University of Silesia, where his teacher was Dr. Marcin Hałat. In 2019, he completed his second studies in jazz violin at the Academy of Music. Karol Szymanowski in Katowice, under the mentoring of prof. Henryk Gembalski.

Additionally, he participated in master classes with famous jazz violinists, such as: Mark Feldman, Michał Urbaniak, Mateusz Smoczyński, Atom String Quartet, Adam Bałdych, Benny von Gutzeit (Turtle Island Quartet), Mario Forte, Oriol Saña, Jason Anick, Darol Anger, Tracy Silverman among others. 

He continuously participates in workshops to develop his musical improvisation and creativity, including:

  • International Jazz Platform 2020 (Łódź, Poland)
  • Workshops by Zbigniew Seifert 2017 and 2019 (Lusławice, Poland),
  • Barcelona Fiddle Congress 2013 and 2016 (Barcelona, Spain),
  • International Summer Jazz Academy 2014 (Krakow, Poland),
  • Urbanator Days 2014 (Warsaw, Poland).

Career achievements

 As a soloist and bandleader, he has performed at numerous festivals worldwide. He has been invited to participate in festivals and prestigious events across the globe, including the USA, China, Indonesia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Cyprus, Italy, Poland, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia.

Eduardo was recognized as a semi-finalist and the recipient of the Audience Award at the esteemed
Zbigniew Seifert Competition 2022.

In 2016 was finalist of the 9th Grupa Azoty Jazz Contest in Tarnów, Poland.
In 2017 was also finalist with special distinction at “Muzyka na Plan”, competition for composition and improvisation on silent movies in Tarnowskie Góry, Poland.

As musician an active networking with other artists is important to collaborate and keep innovated. Violinists network has been something which contributes to keep updated and stay in the loop of the contemporary music scene.
